The Golden Kangaroos are a well known Sydney band who routinely comes to the MIA to perform at Leeton’s Bands Spectacular, held each November.
The local men embraced the opportunity and eight members made the trip - four from Narrandera and four from Leeton.
They were David Marwood, Rick McQueen-Thomson, Graham Eipper, John Wiltjer, Alan Chesworth, Ian Draper, Ian Pettit and John Evans, their conductor Francis Tsoukalidis and their “magic fingers on the piano” Mary Sutcliffe.
They were very warmly welcomed to the club by David Taylor, president of the Epping Club, who as it turns out was born and raised in Narrandera.
The performers took to the stage at a sell out concert of over 300 people.
The audience’s appreciation was well reflected by their long and loud applause.
The choir’s next gigs are on Saturday May 20 at Teloca House in the afternoon and at the Bible Society variety concert at the Plaza Theatre in the evening.
New members are welcome and all ages can apply – they just have to like to sing and share their talent for the pleasure of others.
Contact Allan Chesworth on 0435 444 663 or any other member if you are interested in joining, or would like the choir to perform at a function.
