Students from Shannon’s dance Studio are officially counting down the days until their dance tour of the USA begins, where they will get to learn and perform with the best of the best in the dancing world for nine weeks starting June 27.
The Pulse on Tour, according to SDS director and principle Shannon Maree Hart, is “the most powerful weekend dance workshop, featuring the top choreographers and instructors in the industry today”.
“The teaching faculty include dancers from So you think you can Dance, Americas Got Talent and have worked with the likes of Justin Bieber, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez to name a few.”
Those going on the tour include 15 dancers ranging from the ages of six up to Shannon herself, supported by 27 equally excited family members.
Donna Tuckett will be accompanying her daughter Courtlyn Tuckett, 16, and is thrilled for both the opportunity and experience the girls will have.
“Watching these kids do what they love, it’s just incredibly exciting, not just as little fish in a big sea but out there doing it at such a high caliber” Ms Tuckett said.
“None of it would have been possible without Shannon’s determination to see this happen, or without the mind-blowing support from the dance mums, dads, and the Griffith community at large – it’s simply amazing.”
The tour came about after Ms Hart traveled over to LA and Vegas in 2015 and saw how amazing the opportunity would be for her students to not only attend classes and workshops, but also to perform in the USA.
“I feel we need to provide these opportunities to our students especially students from rural areas,” Ms Hart said.
“In March last year we established our fundraising committee with our dedicated parents of the children attending the trip.”
The trip has been made possible by those fundraising events, which have raised approximately $45,000 for the group, with the committee working “around the clock” putting together BBQ's, a 2017 calendar of the students from the studio, car washes, raffles, pie drives and numerous boxes of chocolates being sold.
“We were extremely fortunate to also have help from the businesses around town in the way of Sponsorship, with Bertoldo's, Roy Spagnolo & Associates, Owen Toyota, Meadow Lane, Trim It Hair & Nails, Xquisite Pools, C&K Male and GA & JG Young donating money towards our final goal of taking the team over to perform.” Ms Hart said.
