Daquiri's Tim Attwood was on course to win the first rubber against Pete Centofanti who was subbing up a line with a 9/7, 9/5 advantage, when he suffered an injury which rendered him unable to finish the match, giving Centofanti the rubber on a forfeit.
After an impressive first game which Robert Armanini won 9/7, Steve Harvey turned the tables and won in four, to give Daquiri their first rubber and level the ledger. Malibu's Nick Sneddon looked to be on track to repeat the result of their previous encounter when he won the first game 10/9 against Ian Carter, but Carter changed gears and won in four games to give Daquiri a second rubber.
Pete Centofanti again tied up the result when he accounted for Kirsty Dal Bon in three, sending the result down to the wire. Benn Camm appeared to be on track to put the result in no doubt when he won the first game 9/3 against Norma Spencer, but Spencer called on her "considerable" experience to win their match in four, proving that age is no deterrent if you are determined.
The pressure was then on the No. 1 players for a result, and Malibu's Matt Kirkman played his usual consistent game to level the rubber count and the decision had to be decided on the number of games, with Malibu winning 12 rubbers to 11.
The Winter Squash Competitions commence this week, with B Grade commencing Tuesday night at 6.30. Anyone interested in playing should ring 0412427407
