Conditions were ideal for running, with most runners posting significantly faster times than last week.

Isabella Salmon tried her luck in the long course and blitzed the field to take first place and earn herself an appointment with the handicapper.

Another convert to the long course, Mia Stockwell, was second with Matthew Ross, Adrian Baird and Michael Johns next in.

Proud dad Anthony Salmon, Chris Smith, Stephen Bourke, Graham Lyons and Moreno Chiappin completed the top 10.

The speed continued in the short course. Nicholas Andreazza returned to the hill, a year to the day, to take out first place. In second was Hugh Lancaster returning from an even longer spell. James Morshead and Anna Price-Taylor fought it out to tie for third with Curtis Pendlebury, William Lancaster and Louise Gunn next in.

Nick Altin captured eighth position for the adults and Hamish Gunn shared ninth position with first-time runner Delroy Kasawaya.

Hamish Gunn posted the fastest time and Tamie Mingay was the fastest female.

In the long course Aidan Fattore was the fastest and the fastest female was Narelle Largergren.

At the halfway point of the competition, Karin Penninga is in a strong position with a 30-point lead in the long. The short course is very tight and anybody’s to take.

News from the AGM held May 8 is one retiring committee member David Heffer, who we thank for his great work. No other changes.

Bob Barker – who was named the club’s latest life member – will be presented his award at the jogger’s dinner in November.

The joggers meet every Saturday at the water tower on the hill opposite Pioneer Park at 4.30pm.
