Jason Piromalli first saw his future wife Tanya Pepi when she was out for a night with her friends in 1988.
“So I went over and just started talking to her, I talked about anything I could think of until the night ended,” he said.
But while the two hit it off straight away and would often talk for hours it wasn’t until the next year, and after Jason estimates he asked her 1000 times, that Tanya agreed to go on a date with him.
“But it had to be at her house to meet her parents, so that weekend I went to her place for a barbecue and at the end of the night I got a good night kiss,” he said.
“That is where I fell head over heels for her.”
Jason proposed in the September of 1999, but it wouldn’t be until 18 years later that the pair would finally tie the knot - with two sons born in quick succession they were content simply being together, raising their family and building their home in Lake Wyangan.
But that all changed with the sudden passing of Jason’s father in 2013.
“Looking back through all those years all I can remember is Tanya being by my side in good and bad times,” he said.
“I felt I couldn’t wait any longer and I know would have wanted us to finally make some time, so we made plans for just a simple wedding with family.”
Since the moment they made concrete plans to make it official Jason said he could not remember being happier, making an emotional tribute to his now wife – the woman he says is the love of his life.
“Tanya is a very special girl, with a heart and soul only a chosen few possess,” he said.
“It is like falling in love with her all over again and it is fantastic, every song on 95.1 is played for us and we are 18 and 21 again with a family and a life I could only dream about all those years ago.
“It still gives me head spins when I think of how and why I could have deserved such an angel to be sent my way when I needed one most.”
Knowing his wife better than anyone else Jason knew she wouldn’t want a big fuss on her wedding day, having seen her preference for helping others rather than doing things for herself many times over the years.
“So I have put pen to paper, rather then climb to the top of the Co-op and scream at the top of my voice that the girl formerly known as Tanya Pepi is now Mrs Tanya Piromalli, the love of my life, my wife,” he said.
