Six-year-old Armahni Cook was determined to help his parents out. The family have moved in with their grandma in Griffith while they were building their own place. Armahni wanted to chip in by squeezing a few lemons in his backyard and selling the juice at 50 cents a cup.

When I tried to buy the juice, their responsible Dad was quick to put to stop to the operation – he knew that regulation these days prevents such enterprises. Licences have to be applied for, and governments want their cut. 

But it begs the question, when the amounts of revenue are so small, should kids should be allowed to sell produce in their front yards to those passing by? 

Jayda Cook, the 9-year-old CEO of Cook kids lemon juice inc., seemed to think so. 

“The lemons were growing in our backyard, and we were bored, so I thought, why not?” she said.
