The Griffith Kart Club held its annual two-way track challenge last weekend and while numbers were down slightly, the calibre of racers didn’t drop.

On the whole, the Griffith club had a successful day with some great racing by the local drivers which resulted in a number of podium finishes.
The youngsters were the first out onto the track in the Cadet 12s.
Some impressive driving saw William Garner in the top two for most of the day before disaster struck.
A racing incident put him back to fourth overall by day’s end.
Ky Young put in his best performance ever to post a scintillating new personal best in claiming fifth position.
Byron Woolner, Jason Severino and Tysen Enness had another epic battle in the KA3 senior light.
When racing finished up it was Woolner who took the spoils.
However, Severino and Enness were also impressive in claiming second and third, respectively.
KA3 senior heavy was a interesting race with the Prendergast brothers – Jamie and Jarrod – both in karts for the race meeting.
There was some tight racing between them and Jason Bailey all day.
Once Jamie got a handle on his new kart he came away with the win.
Bailey claimed second while Jarrod came third.
The continually impressive James O’Callaghan came away with another first place in the TAG 125 light on the day.
TAG 125 heavy saw some very tight racing.
Ashley Woolner showed the younger drivers how to do it and came home with a second place overall.
In the TAG 125 restricted light, it was a one-two finish for the Wood brothers.
John Ross came out on top with William in second but there’s every chance those placings will reverse in the coming weeks with William purchasing a new kart.
There was a great local battle in the Tag 125 restricted heavy.
While none of the locals could claim the top spot, they went incredibly close with Tony Monahan driving the wheels off his kart to pinch second place in front of John Macey in third.
Blake Snaidero opted for a different combination on the day but it didn’t pay off as he came in fourth with Ben Boots taking out fifth position.
All in all, a great day’s racing was had by all.
