Last week, Yoogali FC made the competition an eight-team race for the title by entering its second side.
The competition will now be made up of two Yoogali FC sides, two Hanwood FC sides, two Griffith City sides along with West Griffith and Yoogali SC sides.
The extra teams means sides will play less byes now and GDFA president Angelo Cirillo welcomed the extra team.
“It’s a good thing, we want more people to play, the more the merrier,” Cirillo said.
With the finalisation of the first grade set-up comes the draw for the season as well.
The draw sees a move from a traditional home and away season.
Two fields each weekend will hold two first grade men’s matches along with an all age women’s match.
There will be no under 18s in 2017 due to a lack of numbers but the association is looking at ways to bring the competition back in the future.
Cirillo said the move to hold two first grade men’s matches at a single ground was to give patrons the chance to see as much soccer as possible at the one location. “We still want to give spectators a decent game day when they make the trip down to the ground," Cirillo said.
Cirillo also said the association had put clubs with two teams in first grade on the same ground wherever possible.
