In fact, player Krystelle de Meyer said the majority of the players had a renewed interest in the 15-a-side game following the match.
“I think being able to play with the other girls from other teams was a great opportunity and it cemented the drive to create a more 15-a-side style of game in the area,” de Meyer said.
“Not just the Blacks girls – but a lot of the other girls, too – thoroughly enjoyed it.
“15s is much more enjoyable and you have to work a lot harder.”
de Meyer agrees with the other players and would like to see a 15-a-side option in the area.
“I think it would be a very slow process,” de Meyer said of the potential of having a 15-a-side women’s rugby competition in Southern Inland.
“If we have enough players, Southern Inland is looking at the potential of playing 10-a-side rugby. It means if you’re travelling two or three hours, you’re getting a bit more game time than you would with sevens.”
As far as the game against the experienced Canberra Royals goes, Southern Inland went down 20-10.
