The Panthers will now meet with Coro for the umpteenth time this season in this coming weekend’s grand final.
In the match against Exies, Leagues Club was dominant from the start.
Exies’ top five was bundled out for a combined 25 runs.
At 5/36, Exies mounted a comeback.
Jimmy Mann (11) and Marc Tucker (12) lifted the score to 58 before Liam Greeanway (2/18) removed both batsmen.
Tom Fuller (23*) then took over but ran out of batting partners with Ryan Greenaway (3/5) cleaning up the tail.
When the last wicket fell, Exies had made 104 runs.
It was game on when Andy Arnold (2/61) and Tucker (3/47) took an early wicket each.
However, Andrew Madden (55) and Jimmy Binks sealed a first innings lead with a 105-run partnership.
“To be 2/120-odd was great, Andrew and Jimmy batted unreal,” Leagues Club captain Paul Plummer said.
“We suffered a mini collapse after that which was a bit disappointing but to take an 86-run lead into the second innings was pleasing.”
The collapse was sparked by Tucker who removed both half-century makers.
Duane Ashcroft (2/29) and Connor Bock (3/16) then cleaned up the lower order.
Time was of the essence at this point and quick runs were needed.
It didn’t go to plan early on as Satvir Chahal removed the Burges – Phil (6) and Craig (6) – to take his tally for the match to four wickets and have Exies at 2/20.
Jamie Winkler (48) then played a back-against-the-wall innings to breathe life into his side.
But wickets fell around him as Liam Greenaway (4/25) produced the goods once again.
By innings end, Leagues Club needed just 25 runs for victory.
The Panthers lost three wickets along the way but chased the runs with ease.
Plummer paid tribute to his bowlers following the victory on Sunday.
“It was a team effort but Ryan Greenaway came on and got three [in the first innings] and again today [Sunday] bowled full and showed he can mix it up with big boys,” Plummer said.
“Liam did well too and Satty bowled some great spells but all in all, everyone did their job.”
