The exhibition, currently in Gundagai, features humorous paintings from artists with dark satire, light comedy, or caricature influencing the submissions.
A standout in this year’s exhibition Under Scrutiny by Julia Davis, depicts Ms Ley perusing the real estate section of a newspaper in that teal dress she wore to Palazzo Versace.
The South Australian artist said she wanted the piece, completed in just a few weeks, to be topical but that she harboured no ill will towards the former Health Minister. Flanked by Sam Dastyari, Rod Culleton, Bob Day and Bronwyn Bishop, Ley is depicted sitting in a bar, while outside the window a fleet of Comcars sit ready to drive all five MPs home.
