More than 200 people gathered in the city’s Memorial Park to share pieces of the many unique cultures making up the fabric of Griffith and connect different communities with one another, according to president of the multicultural committee Carmel La Rocca.
“Days like these break down barriers by sharing and belonging and participating,” she said on Monday.
“The theme was ‘everyone belongs’ and so we are trying to connect communities.”
The celebration culminated in a tasting table featuring an array of traditional delicacies from the city’s cultural groups that were shared amongst all.
With the culinary variety ranging from one English lady who baked 60 scones, to a taste of India with Jalebi on offer to traditional Chilean “broken underpants” the variety quickly broke down barriers for all.
