Griffith City Council General Manager Brett Stonestreet has been transferred to Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital following treatment for multiple stab wounds last week.
Mr Stonestreet was flown out on Saturday night requiring specialist treatment after suffering multiple stab wounds allegedly at the hands of his son on Wednesday morning.
Griffith City Council mayor John Dal Broi said he and Mr Stonestreet’s family are thankful for the care he received at the base hospital.
“He was looked after and cared for well at the Griffith Base Hospital. The staff have done an excellent job,” Cr Dal Broi said.
“He was in need of more specialist care, so he’s been flown to Sydney.”
News of the attack on the general manager was met with shock in the community, with residents horrified to hear of what had befallen the well-respected man.

Mr Stonestreet is still expected to make a full recovery.
An earlier version of this story appeared in Friday’s Area News.
It stated the surgeons operating on Mr Stonestreet were from St Vincent’s Hospital.
They were, in fact, Griffith Base Hospital surgeons.
