Across the weekend, Griffith athletes competed in 79 events in an effort to secure a place in the 2016-17 NSW State Little Athletics Carnival to be held next month in Sydney.
Medal winners were: Alynta Watts (second under 8s girls discus), Callum McIntosh third under 9s boys shot put), Taito Vuadreu (second under 10s oys long jump), Christian Callcut (second under 10s boys long jump), Savera Tanuvasa (third under 12s girls discus and shot put), Judd Stevenson (second under 12s boys 100m, 200m and third long jump), Connor Sully (first under 14s boys 100m, 200m and long jump).
All athletes who placed in the top two in their events, aged under 9s and over, qualified for the Little Athletics State Championships.
The athletes who placed third and fourth face a daunting wait to see if they fit within the next best eight from the state to also get a chance to compete at state.
