AFL football will return to Narrandera next month when the Giants take on West Coast Eagles in an official pre-season hit-out on February 18.
Flynn is one of two Narrandera footballers at GWS and both he and Zac Williams hope to win selection for the Giants opening pre-season fixture.
Williams, 22, is now a seasoned footballer and his selection will be relatively straight forward, pending fitness and the Giants pre-season plans.
Flynn, 19, is in only his second pre-season at the Giants but is impressing all the right people as he presses for selection at Narrandera Sportsground.
GWS assistant coach Dean Brogan could not be happier with Flynn’s progress this pre-season.
“Flynny’s been outstanding,” Brogan told the Giants website.
“He came back really fit. We set him some goals for while he was away and he’s come back and met all those targets.
“He’s run really well, his strength, he’s a competitive kid, I’m really looking forward to Flynny through the NAB Cup, if he gets his chance, I think he’s going to play really well.
“He’s going to be a good player for the club.”
Not only did Brogan give a strong push for Flynn’s pre-season chances, the Port Adelaide premiership player believes the Narrandera product can make his AFL debut in 2017.
“Absolutely. Like I said, he reminds me of a young (Shane) Mumford,” Brogan said.
“He’s that undersized ruckman but he’s super competitive and he wants to take your head off out on the field, and off the field he’s a nice guy but on the field gets that white line fever and I love that about our rucks.
“He fits into our Giants team pretty well.”
