Chairperson of the Australia Day Working Party Cr Christine Stead said the lists for the other seven awards up for grabs also feature some impressive names.

“Griffith is extremely fortunate to have so many people who offer up their services and donate their time to help with others,” Cr Stead said. 

The winner of each category will be announced at the official ceremony commencing at 9am on Thursday, January 26, at the Griffith Regional Theatre.

Gayle Schultz: Volunteer presenter of several weekly shows on Griffith’s Community Radio Station 95.1FM.

Shailyn Williams: Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer with NSW Police, she goes above and beyond her duties to support the disadvantaged in the community.

Sue Reynolds: As chairperson of the Yenda Centenary Celebrations, her enthusiasm was instrumental to the success of the event.

Michael Borg: Commanding Officer of the Australian Airforce 340 Cadet Squadron where he volunteers his time towards helping young people become active young leaders in their community.

Bev Devery: Tireless volunteer for Country Hope.

Noel Hicks: Active member for the Rotary Club of Griffith, the Griffith War Memorial Museum Committee and OMNI Griffith, and organised the International Sculpture Symposium as part of the Centenary of Griffith Celebrations.

Robert Mogliotti: Regular visitor and volunteer at the Bupa Aged Care Facility providing support for elderly residents.

Anna Rossetto: Volunteer presenter on Griffith’s Community Radio Station 95.1FM. 

Ar’e Abera: Utilised his skills as a fitness and health practitioner to raise funds for sick local children, the NSW Cancer Council, Breast Cancer Awareness and Men’s Mental Health.

Giovanni (John) Casella: Active organiser of numerous events including the Salami Festival and Italian Republic Celebration, while also regularly visiting the sick and elderly in hospital.
