HILLSTON-born enduro star Toby Price has completed a stellar year in the sport by winning the E3 class during the 2012 Australian Four-Day Enduro at Warragul in Victoria last weekend.
The three-time Australian Off-Road Champion was hindered in his quest to add to his impressive trophy collection, as he battled broken ribs, sustained earlier this month in Germany's International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE).
Despite the painful reminder, Price was first in his class and second outright to narrowly miss on adding to his already strong reputation in the sport.
Price was optimistic regarding his results at nationals saying the amount of success he has had this year across the world tempers his disappointment to a degree.
"The four-day went pretty well, better than expected with my injuries, and it was a tough week as we expected," Price said.
"The plan was to try and do the best I could considering the injuries, which is what I did. It was hard to get in a flow, painful in the ribs, but I got through it and overall it was a positive week despite my injuries."
Team manager Brad Williscroft marvelled at Price's ability to put pain in the back of his mind and concentrate on the task at hand.
"It was amazing that Toby was even riding, the pain that he was in," Williscroft said.
"He did incredible to finish second Outright and to win the E3 class.
The tests suited smaller bikes, they were really tight, but he was awesome on the 500 EXC and his efforts were unbelievable.
Price's class win joins his silver medal as part of the Australian team that competed at the ISDE, before he further rubber-stamped his reputation as the best in the country after sealing his third Australian Off-Road Championship at Kapunda in South Australia to go with wins at the prestigious Finke and Hattah desert races.
