The organisers of one of the biggest events on the Riverina’s fishing calendar are hoping to raise $20,000 to help sufferers of motor neurone disease (MND).

The Riverina Classic will be held at Darlington Point from February 10 to 12 and the organising committee wants to match last year’s $20,000 fundraising tally that went towards helping patients and finding a cure.
There are also plans to release more than 13,000 Murray cod and golden perch fingerlings into the river to help improve fish stocks.
Unlike other fishing competitions, the Riverina Classic is “photo entry only”, in order to minimise any negative effects on fish welfare and ensure anglers have maximum opportunity to chase the elusive “big one”.
For those who aren’t so keen on getting their line wet, there will be market stalls, entertainment, helicopter joy flights and food stalls.
