Owner of Griffith Tourist Caravan Park, John Smith, said tourists are frequent throughout winter and during events but more needs to be done to attract visitors during the summer months.
"Through winter we are seeing more and more people passing through and while some only plan to stay a few days they are extending their trip as they enjoy the area and seeing all Griffith has to offer," Mr Smith said.
"But we just don't see the same amount of people coming through in the hot months, its not a top destination spot in summer.”
Mr Smith said a summer attraction is needed to attract tourists all-year round especially during the warmer months when numbers are lacking.
"We need an aquatic-play centre or water attraction, people travel from Sydney and Melbourne and Canberra to visit places like Jamberoo and I think Griffith needs it's own summer attraction," he said.
"It would be a huge investment but it would be a massive boost to the town and a big draw card for Griffith during the summer months.”
Council's Marketing and Promotion Officer Paige Campbell said government grants would enable businesses and council to build infrastructure to improve facilities, resulting in greater appeal and attractiveness as a destination.
She said improving the functionality of Lake Wyangan was essential to draw younger travellers recreational water users to Griffith.
Ms Campbell also said fast and reliable technologies were essential for successful tourism as 65 per cent of online-savvy Australians use social media and 23 per cent logon more than five times a day.
"Visitors are an essential part of the marketing success of a region, we embrace their posts...but we need to provide the tools to enable them to do so quickly and at no cost - free WiFi is widespread overseas and should be here too.”
