While families have been notified, police from Griffith Local Area Command said the formal identification and DNA process could take some time. 

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Mount Harris Road and Irrigation Way at Stanbridge, around 2.20pm following reports of a crash.

Police have been told two trucks and a Holden Commodore were involved in the crash, which saw the two trucks collide at the intersection.

The heavy vehicles then caught fire, with flames spreading to nearby bushland.

Both of the truck drivers – a 30-year-old man from Yoogali and 53-year-old man from Wagga – died at the scene. 

The 43-year-old woman, who was behind the wheel of the Commodore, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Griffith Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Griffith Local Area Command attended and have commenced an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

A crime scene has been established and the intersection of Irrigation Way and Mount Harris Way will be closed for a significant amount of time.

The Leeton Volunteer Rescue Association, paramedics and Leeton Fire and Rescue NSW also attended. 

Northbound motorists were being diverted onto Murrami Road, Whitton Road and Binyah Street to return to Irrigation Way. 

Southbound motorists were diverted on to Binyah Road and Whitton Road to continue on to Leeton. 

Roads and Maritime Services heavy vehicle inspectors also attended, with Leeton Shire Council assisting with the road closures.
