The win at Exies No. 1 was Exies’ seventh of the season – four more than the side managed throughout the whole 2015/16 season – to go along with two losses.
Last year’s wooden spooners sit three points clear of Coro who claimed its seventh win in a row on Saturday.
It’s a position Exies captain Phil Burge is only too happy to be in.
“It’s pretty good,” Burge said.
“It’s always nice to get a win and we’re pretty happy to be in that position after the first half of the year.”
Diggers batted first and moved to 27 before Exies struck.
Marc Tucker (2/12) picked up two quick wickets.

Thanks to Dom Brown (28), Diggers got back on track before youngster Connor Bock was introduced into the attack.
The quick removed Brown before taking the wicket of Scott Smith later in the over.
Mick Foster (38) and Jason Hampel (12) moved the score to 84 and a defendable total was on the cards.
Exies’ Tom Fuller had other ideas and proceeded to rip through the Diggers’ batting lineup to claim 5/24 off 6.4 overs.
Exies made light work of the total of 113 to breeze past it in the 30th over, just four wickets down.
Tucker was the star of the show with the bat with a swashbuckling 47 from the top of the order.
The rest of the runs were shared around and Burge applauded his whole side on the victory.
“It was just a good team performance,” he said.
“They came pretty hard at us.
“The Diggers batsmen were pretty attacking but we stuck to our lines and picked up the wickets we needed.”
