Carrathool Mayor Peter Laird said the floods had been devastating in the area’s north.
“The crops that had been planted in the area have been completely wiped out,” he said.
“The area's cotton crop was the most devastated.”
The roads in the area also affected but the mayor was pleased to report there had been no stock losses.
He was quick to praise the work ethic of the NSW State Emergency Service, which was in town throughout the flood event.
“The only concern we had was a small seepage in the levee,” he said.
“Between the council and the SES, there was enough pro-activeness about the issues and were constantly keeping the community informed.”
Mr Laird felt the town being able to escape with no damage was a great result after the river peak at a major flood level of around 3.1m.
