Griffith East student Cormac Skaliotis has taken out top honours with a perfect score in the University of New South Wales’ Mathematics test.

Less than one per cent of participants received a perfect score in the test with Cormack travelling to Sydney to receive a medal for his efforts.
Looking back on the test the eight-year-old year 2 student said it all came down to a single question.
“There was one question I was a bit unsure about so I went back and checked it over and over again,” he said.
“It was either 38 or 39 and I still just couldn’t decide,” luckily instinct lead him in the right direction.
The budding mathematician said while he loved maths he was unsure yet whether he would dedicate his life to the cause. “I haven’t come up with what I want to do yet,” he said.
“Right now we are learning about decimals.
“My teacher Mrs Smith is really good she teaches me a lot and gives me harder work when I need it.”
