IT WAS the next best thing to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory - bubbles, face painting, a merry-go-round, jumping castles, an obstacle course, even badge making.
And if fun made a sound, it could be heard echoing through Memorial Park on Saturday morning for the annual Griffith Children's Festival.
Close to 1000 kids and parents were on hand for the colourful event, again put on by the Griffith Children's Services Advisory Committee - a group of early childhood providers combined with other agencies.
One of the co-organisers, Marg Andreazza from Griffith Connections, said the day was about providing an affordable and fun event for families.
"It was an opportunity to give families a fun morning out for free but it's also a chance for local early childhood services to promote themselves and talk about what they do," Ms Andreazza said.
"It was a really happy atmosphere and a lot of people commented how pleasant it was and how happy the kids were.
"Parents didn't have to say no to their children because they'd already spent too much money."
