According to Inspector Nick Seddon from Griffith Local Area command, officers were patrolling the Kidman Way when they noticed smoke protruding from a property on Carrington Street, shortly after 4pm.
The abandoned house was well alight when fire crews arrived at the scene and it took crews about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
Electricity was still connected to the house at the time of the fire and Essential Energy was on hand after electricity lines were brought down in the blaze.
No one was injured in the fire and investigations are continuing.
