A total of six half-centuries were scored along with plenty of 30s and 40s as players just fell short.
Jamie Whitworth started the trend in the opening game as Hanwood beat Yenda by 41 runs.
Whitworth carved out a score of 63 and a partnership shared with Cameron McWhirter – who fell run one short of 50 – was vital in Hanwood reaching 8-178 at the end of the side’s 40 overs.
Zac Ruediger (2-36), Neil Burke (2-23) and Josh Ryan (2-12) were Yenda’s most penetrating bowlers.
Yenda’s Pete Vardanega looked set to chase the runs down on his own as he scored a fine 88.
However, Vardanega only received support from Campbell Jeremy (25).
The bowling of Ryan McWhirter (3-20), Anthony Kidman (3-31) and Brett Docherty (3-6) saw Yenda bowled out for 137.
In the Diggers and Leagues match, Mark Favell played a similar role to Vardanega.
Favell made 79 runs before he fell to Ben Jones (4-41).
His only backup came from Brett Owen (18) – who also fell to Jones – and John Moran (13*).
The other seven batsmen managed just eight runs between them as Diggers were bowled out for 130.
Despite the best efforts of the Collins’ – Tanna (2-14) and Gregory (1-23) – Leagues made light work of Diggers’ total.
Mark Semmler (53) crunched a half-century and James Shelton (42*) went close to scoring one of his own but the total was reached before he could raise the bat.
In the closest game of the round, Coro just edged out a gallant Exies outfit.
Coro’s decision to bat first was a good one.
Jamie Bennett (54) and Brett Crooks (20) made scoring look early on.
Then, Brenton Harrison (1-23) grabbed the breakthrough before Dan Brady (2-25) furthered the hurt.
A pair of 15s to Dean Robertson and Andrew McIntyre steadied Coro’s innings but Connor Bock (2-12) and Lyle Campbell (2-22) continued to take wickets.
Angus Kennedy (27*) was the last man standing as Coro finished on 166.
Exies looked solid as its top five scored 133 runs between them with Lyle Campbell (59*) and Harrison (32) the best of the lot.
However, John (3-34) and Nicholas (3-46) Witherspoon combined to see Exies batsmen fall 10 runs short when their 40 overs were up.
