Yenda was one of a number of towns across NSW who participated in the state’s first ever ‘Gone Fishing’ Day on Sunday, October 16.
An initiative of the NSW Department of Primary Industries organisers on the day hoped to get all Australians out on the water to celebrate their love of fishing.
The DPI offered fishing clubs throughout the state the chance to apply for grants to help them hold their own ‘Gone Fishing’ Day and Yenda Hotel fishing club was one of the lucky ones.
The club received a grant enabling them to hold their own event in Centenary Park.
The day was a great success with the first 30 children enrolled all given a free fishing rod, fishing goodies bag and a hat with every fisherman who snagged a fish walking away with a free fishing lure.
