Griffith was bowled out for 167 in pursuit of Leeton’s first innings total of 191.
“We lost that game ourselves, our middle order lost their heads,” Pascoe said.
“When the spinner [Hugh Collins] came on, he bowled well and no one could help themselves.
“He was just tossing them up and we were getting caught in the deep – it was real disappointing.
“They bowled well and they took some really good catches but we shouldn't have been playing those shots.”
Leeton’s innings was set up by openers Brent Lawrence (56) and Nathan Tang (31).
The pair put on a 92-run opening stand before Tang fell to the spin of Liam Greenaway (1-32).
Griffith gained some momentum when Collins (3) was out shortly after but that brought Nathan Carn to the crease.
Carn amassed 53 not out as he saw Leeton to 4-191 from 50 overs – a score Pascoe thought was chaseable.
“No doubt, 190 was under par for the wicket. It was flat and had a really quick outfield,” Pascoe said.
Andrew Potter (2) fell early in the chase before opener Dom Brown (39) combined with his captain.
The pair moved the score to 84 before Brown became the first victim of Collins (4-32).
Collins kept at it and with the help of Brent Lawrence (1-37), reduced Griffith to 5-102 just after the halfway mark of the innings.
Jacob Breed (11) combined with Pascoe to move the score to 136 before he too fell to Collins.
It set up a blockbuster finish as Griffith needed 54 runs off the final 10 overs with four wickets in hand.
Josh Carn (2-23) removed Scott Smith before Pascoe was finally out for 79 with the score on 153.
Even though Griffith’s batting lineup ran deep, the tail wasn’t able to get over the line. Leeton picked up the final two wickets to secure the 24-run victory.
