Against 30 of the best competitors in the country, Severino competed in the KA3 light class.
In what now can be looked back on as bad omen, Severino had mechanical problems in qualifying which put him at the back of the field.
The first heat was a real battle just to try get through field.
In heat two, Severino started to find form before he was given a penalty for hitting another kart.
Things only got worse from there as another mechanical gave him a did not finish (DNF) in the final.
However, all in all it was a great effort to finish midfield as a privateer against the factory teams.
Byron Woolner competed in the X30 light class.
Woolner’s weekend started off swimmingly with an impressive qualifying and first heat which saw him in 10th – a huge result in this field.
However, that is when things started to turn bad for Woolner.
The next two heats saw him slip down the field but with some fast work on the kart before the final the problem was thought to have been found.
It turned out to not be the only problem and a DNF ensued but he still managed to finish midfield against the best of best.
In other karting news, Ky Young hit the road on Sunday to compete in the cadet 12 class in Albury.
The day was as cold as it was rainy and with the horrid weather, the officials called the track wet which forced everyone to put their wet weather tyres on for practice.
In good news, after three practice sessions the track dried out for qualifying.
Young had a great session and finished third in race one before the rain returned and with it trying conditions.
In heat two, Young had a bad start and couldn't make his way back through the field but still managed to finish fourth.
Young found another gear in heat three to claim another third place and with it some personal best lap times. His improving form saw him finish third overall.
