The run will move to the new start time of 5:30pm, so the AFL will be all over – bar the cheers and tears.
The Ferals would like to say they are being nice to all the football tragics but the real reason is to avoid the Australian Masters Cycling road race.
The race will be passing the joggers’ start/finish area.
With that in mind, all joggers should take extra care travelling to the start as there could be more bikes and traffic than normal – and possibly road closures.
The following week is daylight saving so 5:30pm will be the start time from this Saturday onward.
Derek Goullet tore up the track in race four of the Arsova competition last weekend – although a ball of cotton wool could probably tear up this mushy track.
He was first across the line and is also first on the pointscore table.
Brendon Sinclair, in second, is finding it a little easier not having traipsed around all afternoon with a hockey stick.
Rodney Savage – in third position – was a whole two seconds slower than last week.
And in saying that, he would have certainly recorded a better time if it wasn’t for the multiple quagmires up on the hill.
Tony Rokov has been consistent at fourth this week and running quicker than last year.
Aidan Fattore – in 11th place – produced the fastest run of this competition and Lena Sergi was fastest on the day in 15th.
Harry Marcus made a rare appearance and – in claiming his first ever top 10 – was a clear first.
Next over the line was Ella Savage in second who reduced her best time to be fastest on the day.
Zara Jones crossed the line to claim third.
Kaiden Simpson was so fast from the gun he barely touched the start mat.
The youngster kept it up from there to claim fourth.
Connor Bourke in ninth was also fastest.
Nindi Birring and Rodney Arminini were the only oldies allowed into the top 10 by the domineering kids.
At this, the halfway point, the battle for the trophy is wide open.
Savannah Vecchio has a small lead over Ella Savage with plenty of Ferals still within range.
The Joggers run each Saturday at 5:30pm from the water tower opposite Pioneer Park.
There is currently a choice of 3.3-kilometre or 5.4-kilometre runs over the tracks and trails of Scenic Hill.
Please be early to register.
