Despite an early-morning shower and trying weather conditions the Griffith community was not deterred and participants were showered in colour as they ran around the five kilometre track.

Organisers lived up to the promise of colourful fun with all five colour stations using every last bag and bottle of colour, not a single t-shirt was left white and faces were almost unrecognisable under the layers of colour.  

Keeping the crowds entertained and drenched in colour was guest MC Andrew Reid from Bondi Rescue and Star FM’s Claire Humphery and Dane McGuirk.

Mr Reid declared the day a huge success and said the turnout was better than expected with an extra 200 people registering on the day.

“Today has been super successful, we were concerned about the weather but we got really lucky with the conditions as the blue sky came out and the sun kept shinning,”he said.

"There was over a thousand people here, we couldn't ask for any better than that,” Mr Reid said.

“The Colour Me Fun Run is by far the best kind of run, we throw the most amount of colour out and people just love colour runs, everyone was here to have fun and it was awesome.”

Helping organise the event and throw out plenty of colour was Matt Kenny from Livefit, one of the major sponsors of the run.

“Today has been fantastic, it has been one of the best events in Griffith for a long time and everyone came out and supported the run, it looked a bit gloomy at the start but they got out here and supported the run and it was an amazing day,” Mr Kenny said.

“There has been so much colour, we had five tubs at our station and we went through the whole lot and just smothered everyone in colour.”

The fun continued after the run with plenty of food and wine available.

Kids were entertained with a jumping castle and face paint and crowds lined up for favourites including ice cream and fairy floss.
