A YOUNG girl has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car outside Griffith Central shortly before 1pm.

The girl, who had bruising to her face, was cradled in her mother’s arms while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
The driver of the vehicle which hit the girl was visibly distressed.
Two ambulances arrived and the girl was taken into one for treatment.

She said the girl ran out in front of the vehicle.
“The little girl just ran out, there was nothing the driver could do,” she said.
Another man at the scene said he didn’t see the accident but heard the impact and people screaming.
A number of young children were distressed following the accident.
Police closed a section of the road while the girl remained in the ambulance.
Police interviewed the driver of the vehicle involved.
An Ambulance NSW spokesman said the girl was treated for an injury to her lower left leg and abrasions to her forehead.
Paramedics responded to the incident shortly before 1pm and she was transported to Griffith Base Hospital.
