The hotel will host the hot wing eating contest Thursday, September 8 in support of the R U OK? organisation, which raises awareness of depression by encouraging people to ask their friends if they are okay.
Hot Olive Bistro head chef Rod Pieper said he was confident mental health would be a hot topic by the end of the day.
“R U OK – we will be asking that question all night,” he said.
“This is something that effects everyone. Whatever it is we want people to know they can come in and chat. It’s going to be a fun event to raise money for a really good cause.”
Competitors will be subjected to four rounds of hot wings, with the heat increasing each round. “It’s going to be the hottest thing people have ever had in their lives,” Mr Pieper promised for those who made the final round.
Entry per team is $20 with all proceeds going to the organisation. Entries close Monday, September 5.
