Eight boys from the Griffith area were a part of the side that won the shield that is awarded to the winner of the second tier at the state carnival.
The team played against the best teams in the state and competed against boys almost twice their size.
The start of the week was a tough one for Riverina as the side went winless on day one but this just made the boys hungrier for the rest of the carnival.
The side didn’t drop another game – the run included three wins and one draw – in the final two days as the Riverina outfit secured the Convener’s Shield.
