Mr and Mrs Apps sold a line of 46 lambs to command the top money and a second draft of their lambs made $202.
A total of 11,600 sheep and lambs went under the hammer at the Griffith market which was back by 2400 from the previous week.
According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service lamb quality was mixed with some good lines of finished lambs offered along with the secondary types. The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
There was 4700 head new season lambs penned and quality was improved from the previous sale. Trade weights sold from $123 to $150, with heavy weights ranging from $148 to $172/head.
Old light lambs sold from $104 to $114/head. Trade weights were $5 to $6 better with prices ranging from $116 to $139/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weights were also $5/head better. Heavy lambs sold from $140 to $144 and extra heavies received from $156 to $215/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 578c to 613c/kg. Mutton numbers remained steady and quality was fair. Prices continued to be very strong with Merino ewes selling from $86 to $140/head.
Crossbreds ranged from $74 to $145 and Dorper ewes sold from $80 to $125/head.
