Hanwood’s Micheal Cimador opened the scoring after he rounded both the Griffith City defence and keeper to put it into an open net.
However, the lead was short lived after City’s Angus Scott rose to head home a corner.
A determined run from Hanwood's Daniel Rogato saw the lead restored for Hanwood after he placed the ball into the bottom corner.
Despite the best efforts of Griffith City – who were unable to get past the Hanwood goalkeeper – the score remained 2-1 at half-time.
Hanwood coach Ross Patane said it was a great performance from his keeper that gave his side the win.
"He was the reason that the result went our way. Some of the saves he pulled off were absolutely crucial,” he said
The result was sealed when Jordan Bellato made a great solo run to make the score 3-1.
