In a rematch of last year’s decider, the two teams are again facing off to see who will come out as first grade champions for 2016.
It was a 6-0 result in favour of Hanwood FC last time the teams met in the semi-finals and Yoogali SC captain Michael Depaoli said his side was ready to make up for the disappointing showing.
“Our side is ready to go,” he said.
“In terms of availability, everyone we want is fit and ready so that is great and mentally the boys just really want to make up for what was a very disappointing result for the club last time against Hanwood.
“The result against them last time is water of a duck’s back and the players are just fired up to perform this weekend.”
Depaoli said despite the history between the two clubs, it provided no extra motivation heading into the final.
“There is 60 years of history between the clubs and there is a rivalry but we are just going into this game as we would any other game against Hanwood,” he said.
“In terms of what we need to do, the coaches have had us working on the necessary things. It’s just up to the players to approach the game with the tenacity that we have approached all of the other games this year.”
Hanwood FC captain Daniel Quarisa the preparation for the match had gone well so far.
“We have been looking good,” he said.
“We trained well last night and will be looking to carry that over into the weekend.
“We just used the extra week off that we earned with the semi final win to ensure that everyone is fit and ready to go this weekend.”
Quarisa knows his side face a different opposition to the one they beat 6-0.
“We are expecting a completely different challenge to the one we faced in the semi final,” he said.
“They were missing a few boys so we are going to have to be really aware of what is happening around us if we want to get the win.”
Quarisa believed the result would come down to which side’s mindset was better.
“We know what we have to do it is just a focus thing,” he said.
“From a physical point of view you can’t just say that you are going to mark this person out of the game, you just have to play what is in front of you.”
If the previous results this season are anything to go by it will be a high scoring affair. So far this season there have been 17 goals scored across their four games.
The game will kick off at approximately 3pm at EW Moore Oval on Sunday.
