Chris Barbagallo and Gary Andreazza raced for the long course trophy as Barbagallo held a four-point lead heading in but had a four-minute deficit to make up.
At the line, Barbagello’s title was safe with his first on the day at just a few seconds off his best. Andreazza put in a respectable 11th and Roy Binks cemented third in the competition with 18th on the day.
Also running well on the day were Derek Goullet, who snared a smart second given his Sydney effort, James Lace was third and not far off his best whilst Vince Restagno was the only other City to Surfer to make the top 10.
Mark Andreazza in 32:55 and Sharon Careri in 40:50 were fastest.
Mark Valenti actually crossed the line first but decided, after consulting his technology, that he had misnavigated.
Milla Vecchio and Gavin Callcut raced for the short course trophy.
The young Vecchio rose to the occasion to slice 30 seconds off her best and finished third to extend the points gap.
It was a good effort by Callcut who ran close to his personal best but it’s hard to hold off a rampaging youngster.
Tracy Vecchio in 19th defended third position in the point-score.
There were a lot of recurring names in the top 10 with Cooper Savage, first in a massive personal best of 16:22, Chaise Sergi, second also with a personal best, Digby Jones, fourth with one of his fastest, Kaiden Simpson, equal fourth with a personal best, and Louise Gunn, seventh with a personal best.
Tammy Mingay at eighth was fastest with her personal best of 14:57 and Hamish Gunn had a relaxed run but still finished fastest male.
This week, running abandons Scenic Hill as the joggers attack the annual Lakesview Classic with a choice of the 12-kilometre long course or three-kilometre short course. Runners can get full details on the Feral Joggers website.
