It was the Waratahs who took the spoils 30-28 at Ron Crowe Oval.
Viliami Ngu grabbed a double for the visitors while Sam Basham and Craig Iverach were on song for West Wyalong with two tries apiece.
Waratahs captain Chris Hanneman said the Waratahs played on the back of quick-thinking hooker James Girdler.
“The Girdatron [Girdler] was one of our best today,” Hanneman said.
“He does all the little things right.
“His service was outstanding and he’s got some mongrel about him.”
The win sees the Waratahs draw level with West Wyalong on the ladder and keep in the race for the finals.
However, the win came at a cost for the Waratahs with Brad Saunders and Tim Rice sustaining leg injuries during the match.
