Ms Quarisa was recognised for her tireless work over the years in organising the police officer of the year awards, which had impressed the Rotary members. “Amanda, you were selected to receive this recognition because Griffith East Rotary believes that your life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of The Rotary Foundation,” Dennis Conroy said on the night.
“Rotarians designated a Paul Harris Fellow to recognise another person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives and mission of Rotary to build world understanding and peace. We thank you for demonstrating in your life a vocation a commitment to helping persons in need here.”
Ms Quarisa said she was blown away by the unexpected recognition. “I told them there was no need to get me flowers or make a fuss this year, but I never expected they would do this,” she said. “I am very honoured.”
