The Sharks have won three of their past six and just cling onto second position after 14 rounds of the Group 20 first grade competition.
They travel to the Darlington Point Sportsground on Sunday to face the fourth-placed Roosters and a loss could see them tumble to fourth.
TLU captain-coach Tim Ring has done the maths and knows what the Sharks need to do to achieve their goals.
“I had a look at the ladder during the week and the top five teams are pretty tight at the moment. If we lose the next couple of games, we could drop out of the five," Ring said.
”The plan is to win our next two, cement a spot in the top three and then we have the bye after that.
“We are really looking forward to that bye.
“Like most teams we have a few niggly injuries so a bye right at the end of year will be perfect for us.”
The Roosters will be out to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since rounds one and two.
Darlington Point-Coleambally was impressive last week as the side dismantled the Black and Whites with a powerful second half. The match is set to start at 3pm.
