Exies to dig deep with ball against Yenda

EXIES will be looking to claim the target on the Diggers' back when they take on the reigning premiers at Exies No.2 tomorrow.

With the Diggers claiming massive wins over Yenda and Hanwood in the first two rounds of the competition, Exies captain Marc Tucker said they had already become the side to beat this season.

"They have been the best team for the past couple of years and they're definitely a team to be worried about," Tucker said.

"It would be pretty good to beat them as they are the best team in the competition."

The Diggers have claimed a 62-run win and 92-run win over their opponents so far this season.

But Tucker said he was confident the recent good form of bowlers Adam Izzard (3-39), Daniel Peruzzi (2-57) and Tom Valeri (4-12) would be enough to limit the Diggers tomorrow.

"Our bowlers have been looking pretty good so far this season," he said.

"Chris Mansell is away this weekend but we've got Cameron McFayden coming in and he bowled well for us the first week, so he will be able to step in quite well.

"We've just got to bowl consistently."

The white-hot form of the Diggers' bowlers will also be something on the Exies' minds, after Glen Faganello grabbed an impressive 5-17 last week against Yenda.

"We're getting some good partnerships going but Justin Winkler (76 against Leagues last week) has hurt his ankle, but he should be right to play," Tucker said.

"Cahill bowls pretty quick and I reckon he's due for some wickets, we'll have to be wary of him."
