The Blacks were knocked out of contention for a top five spot last week when they went down to Tumut and will be ruing a few missed chances – including two last gasp losses to Leeton – from earlier this season.
However, as far as Griffith is concerned, that’s all in the past now and the Blacks are as focused as ever to put in a top notch performance.
“There’s not much you can do about it now, those close losses sting but you learn from them and we can take that into next year,” Griffith Blacks president Andrew Scott said.
“The guys will be trying to keep their defence as sound as ever and they’ll be out to finish off strong.
“They're not the kind of guys to go in half-hearted and throw the towel in.
“They’ll be going 100 miles an hour and will want to prove the calibre of players they are.”
The Blacks look set to welcome assistant coach Matt Vitucci back into the side who returns after a two week break.
The return will also bolster the lower grades who are still in contention for the finals.
The Blacks will be out to lock down third position on the second grade ladder.
They sit on 41 points – equal with Tumut – and a handy win will secure third spot and an extra chance in the finals.
“Second grade will be looking to polish off their performance and head into the finals with a bit of momentum,” Scott said.
The third grade side has also locked in a finals spot – which spot that will be is still up for grabs.
The Blacks sit in fourth in third grade and take on the second-placed Deniliquin this weekend.
They can finish anywhere between second and fifth.
The women’s side is in the same predicament as the first grade team and sit just out of reach of a finals spot.
