Australian Liberty Alliance candidate Ron Pike said he would “scrap the plan”.
“We would not implement recommendations from the Senate committee – we would scrap the plan completely,” Mr Pike said.
Greens candidate Amanda Cohn said a review of the plan would be a priority.
She said other parties voted to delay a review for a few years, but the Greens voted against that proposal.
Liberal candidate and Farrer sitting member Sussan Ley admitted the plan was flawed but said she believed it was needed.
“I’m in favour of working with the MDBP plan but recognising there are problems,” Ms Ley said.
EDUCATION
Dr Cohn said the Greens had committed to ensuring schools continued to have access to Gonski funding.
“Gonski provides needs-based funding to disadvantaged schools and the Greens have committed to the Gonski funding,” she said.
Mr Pike had another suggestion.
“Close down the Commonwealth Department of Schools,” he said.
He said the states should be left to run schools.
HEALTH
Dr Cohn said funding taken from the city’s public hospital would be reinstated.
“We’d restore funding and make sure cuts can’t be made willy nilly,” she said.
Mr Pike said he would fight “tooth and nail” to ensure every facility in the area had “top notch health facilities”.
