A thick layer of frost did little to slow down Aidan Fattore and Nicole Restagno as the pair took out the men’s and women’s divisions of the annual Half on the Hill on Sunday.

More than 100 hardy runners braved the frosty conditions for the 21.1 kilometre off-road event.
Fattore was, incredibly, not only the winner of the men’s event but also first across the line – beating out all competitors, including those in teams – with a time of 1:24:28.
He wasn’t able to track down Peter Pearson’s course record of 1:18:19 set in 2014 but given the sticky, water-logged track, he did more than enough to blow away all other competitors.
The male team of Adam Johnson and Rodney Savage were the early favourites to take line honours, given their recent form and the fact they only had to run half the course each, but Fattore easily accounted for them with an impressive two-minute winning margin.
Second individual male was Andrew Creek with Duane Shawcross in third.
In the women’s event, the smile on Nicole Restagno’s face, as she finished first in a time of 1:40:45, said it all.
This is the one trophy that Restagno had been itching to get her hands on and she did it in style.
Belinda Owers and Teresa Burgess ran great races but were never a match for Restagno who finished over six minutes in front of the pair.
Husband and wife duo, Simon and Fiona Fattore, won the mixed team event whilst the women’s team event was won by Melissa Sergi and Tammy Mingay who finished an incredible five minutes from their nearest competitors.
Griffith Feral Joggers president Adam Johnson was pleased with the overall success of the 2016 event.
“Given the recent rain and tough track, it was great to see so many brave the conditions,” he said. “Our club is also very pleased to have so many runners from outside of Griffith support this year’s Half on the Hill.”
