United remain hopeful of consolidating their position in the top four of the Griffith District Football Association first grade competition, but in order to do so it will need to string together valuable wins.
Last week Leeton went down to Griffith City 3-1 in what assistant coach Joe Trifogli labelled a “disappointing match”.
“We started off really well getting the first goal,” he said. “Then they kicked a wonder goal from about 30 metres.
“At half-time we talked about what we had to do and I thought we did play a second half even though we lost.
“They got another really goal and I think that’s what broke us.”
Both Hanwood and Leeton traditionally have a fierce rivalry with each other, which will likely up the tempo for both sides on Sunday at Hanwood.
“They are always a very good side,” Trifogli said.
“Last weekend they had State Cup, which they won, so they’ll definitely be on a high and feeling confident.
“I’m not sure what the field will be like, but we know after last weekend that we need to adapt better to the conditions.”
The match is at Hanwood Oval on Sunday with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
