The Black and Whites take on rivals Yenda on Sunday at EW Moore Oval and the Blueheelers – who sit last on the ladder – will be equally as desperate for a win.
“It’s an extremely important game for us, as it is for Yenda,” Morriss said.
“The competition is so tight. If you drop a couple games you can slip right down the ladder.
“All the teams will be trying to get traction and push towards the end of the season. The bye has ramped things up with more players available too.
Morriss was prepared for Yenda to perform much better than their position on the ladder suggests.
“Yenda are still a quality side and they'll find their rhythm,” Morriss said.
“Tom [Sellars] and Mog [Michael Mogliotti] are good leaders and they have some good young guys who can play football.”
