A GOOD bowling wicket saw Diggers triumph over Coleambally in a hotly contest B grade match at Showground 1 on Saturday.
With both squads' bowlers putting in blinding efforts with the ball, the game went down to the wire with Diggers managing to just sneak past the Nomads run total of 54.
The white-hot efforts of Brian Corner (3-17) and Mark Favell (5-4) saw the Diggers tear through Coly's batting line-up, with only B Cullen (19) and G Kelly (16) putting up a fight.
With just 54 to run down, the Diggers looked confident walking out on to the pitch for their innings. But Coleambally spearhead C Wythes (5-12) was on a mission and he easily collected five Diggers scalps.
Kelly (3-9) also put in a great effort with the ball and it looked like Coleambally might restrict the Diggers enough to steal a win but it wasn't to be and the visitors won by two wickets.

A BRILLIANT effort with both the bat and ball by Michael Crosato led Hanwood to a 39-run victory over the Yenda Spitfires at Showground 2 on Saturday.
A solid top-order performance by Hanwood's C Patterson (15), T Cowie (16) and C McGann (23) had the squad in a good position. But Crosato's unbeaten 42 proved vital for the squad when Hanwood's tail-end was dismissed cheaply by Yenda's on-target bowlers, with B Irvine (3-21), G Argus (2-20) and S Waide (3-30) all putting in good efforts.
With a respectable 122 to chase, the Spitfires looked up to the task when they stepped up to the crease. A decent effort by opening batsman J Condon (12) followed by a consistent middle order performance had Yenda inching closer to Exies' total.
But the combination of N Witherspoon (3-14) and Crosato (4-13) shut down any hope the new team had of securing their first-ever win and Hanwood took the victory with 39 runs to spare.

A FIVE-wicket haul from Cameron Harrison took Exies to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Yenda at Yenda on Saturday.
With Yenda's top-order batsmen getting off to a slow start, the Exies bowlers were holding all the cards early in the game. Things continued to get worse for the home squad as the visitor's bowlers found their stride and stellar efforts by Harrison (5-26) and Glen Bock (3-16) saw the rest of Yenda's line-up dismissed cheaply. After restricting Yenda to just 61, the Exies batsmen knew it was going to be an easy afternoon for them.
A good opening combination of Manoj Beri (17) and Bock (19) further boosted the Exies' confidence and Darren Harvey (19 not out) and David Hennessey (3 not out) had an easy job of it to surpass Yenda's total with eight wickets to spare.
