About 10pm, a pursuit began on Noorla Street when the driver of a white Holden Commodore wouldn’t stop for a breath test.
Inspector Nick Seddon from Griffith police said the chase went through back streets around Lake Wyangan and toward Rankins Springs before heading back toward Griffith.
“The pursuit was terminated as they approached Griffith due to the speed of the vehicle,” he said. “Safety is our overriding priority.”
In a separate incident about 11pm, a white Holden ute was seen entering Ted Scobie Oval and doing burnouts on the grass.
“Police made enquiries and the vehicle was later reported stolen,” Inspector Seddon said. “This has caused a lot of damage, not just in a monetary sense but it’s also disrupted the use of the area by the community. Police take a dim view of this type of behaviour and anyone found doing this sort of thing can be charged with malicious damage.”
Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to contact Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299.
