So far this year, DPC has lived up to its own expectations with two wins from two starts at home.
Both wins came at Darlington Point and now the Roosters have a chance to register a win at their second home ground as they play their first match out at Coleambally for the year.
“We spoke about that at the start, we didn't want to drop any games at home,” Darlington Point-Coleambally captain-coach Clinton Green said.
“We get a good crowd at home and it makes a fair difference.
“We are out at Coly for the first time and I’m pretty sure we’ll get a lot of the Aussie rules guys there, they'll be nice and vocal.”
DPC will host the Yanco-Wamoon Hawks on Sunday and will be looking to bounce back from a defeat at the hand of Tullibigeal-Lakes United last week.
The hike out to Lake Cargelligo is always hard and Green said last week was no different as DPC went down 38-24.
“It’s tough out there, they're [TLU] going pretty good. They're fit, not real big but defend really well. Ringo’s [Tim Ring] got them going great,” Green said.
“We just dropped a bit too much ball and let the crowd get to us at times.
“I thought for periods we dominated but we’re not doing it for long enough.”
Whilst Yanco-Wamoon recorded a handy 42-26 win over Leeton last week, the Hawks also let in the most points they had all year.
Group Nine referees adjudicated the match between Leeton and Yanco-Wamoon last round and Hawks co-coach Glenn Dumbrell thought that aided the high-scoring.
“I think the speed of the game would have had something to do with it – the Group Nine refs sped the game up a bit,” Dumbrell said.
“It suits our style but at the same time it makes you more susceptible to points.
“It benefits both teams and the quality of football that is played.”
Dumbrell said if the Hawks can tighten up in defence, their attack would would fall into place.
“One of our big goals for the season is to not leak too many points,” Dumbrell said.
“Usually 20 is our number, last week we were a bit over so that will be a main focus this week.
“We have enough talent to score the points, we just need to make sure we don’t leak too many of them.”
The match will commence at around 3pm.
